my first upload

Hey everybody who may or may not be following me

this is my first Devlog as well as my first upload to Itch

i mainly made this game so that i can have something to show on my portfolio and i'm not gonna lie, i'm really proud of how it turned out, considering the bulk of the game was a scrapped Global Game Jam game i had done back in Feb

i kind of wish i got this out the door sooner than later considering the size of the overall project, but thanks to college eating up most of my personal time(about to go on field placement in 2 months) i'm glad i got the chance to take my time with this game.

as for the overall design process i wanted to make sure the game was as simple as possible, as well as being a little bit more akin to something along the lines of a walking sim(narrative driven game) with some stuff added in to help break up the menatney of how a lot of walking sims tend to be, IE adding keys, or in this case coins to open up paths to implement backtracking as well as a sense of progression.

thanks to the extra time i decided to add in 2D lighting that Unity provides and it helps make the game look a little bit more organic and unique especially in the sewer section of the game.

even though i kind of which some sections of the game where a bit more optimized, such as the game takes a minute to load up the sewer section for reason that might haft to do  with the area being really big :/ as well as making the camera snap to the other side of the sewer exit instead of still following the player(akin to zelda screen transitions as an example) as well as maybe make some more unique section and making the city section more polished and better looking, considering this wasn't supposed to be a major project i had planned down to pipe so it's not to big of a deal for me.

but i would definitely like to revisit this concept and refine some stuff about this game when i get the chance to do so.

anyways whoever is reading this i hope you download and play the game yourself and have a good time with it, its a bit nonsensical but i'm really proud of what i have made :)

Enjoy
